IYDF Summer Dance Residency

Summer Dance Residency

22nd – 27th June 2026

In collaboration with Dance Ireland, DYDC is offering a week of dance with guest teacher/choreographer Alex O'Neill, who will create a new dance piece with the group to be performed at the Irish Youth Dance Festival (IYDF), Sunday 5th July..

The Summer Dance Residency is open to young dancers 10-18yrs looking to develop their skills and to experience dance engagement with a professional teacher/choreographer alongside members of DYDC Junior  Ensemble.

What is involved?

​​

Each dance residency consists of 6 short days of dance including:

  • Morning dance class

  • Creative choreographic process

  • Development of a short dance piece

  • Performance at the IYDF, Sunday 5th July

​​​

The dance residency goals are:

  • An introduction to contemporary dance and the work and structure of DYDC ensembles

  • Build confidence in the participants

  • Dance skills development

  • Choreographic skills development

  • Collaborative work (with choreographer and fellow dancers)

  • Networking with peer dancers

  • Access to training in a state of the art premises

​*register before 16th April for early bird offer of €125 and to be in with a chance of winning a scholarship for the DYDC Discovery Dance Programme, 17th -21st August 2026.
