Josué dos Reis is a Brazilian dancer, choreographer, and researcher from Salvador, Bahia, a city rooted in Afro-Brazilian culture. He began dancing at 13, performing on the streets with his father, an experience that shaped his artistic path. As a teenager, he entered the commercial dance scene, collaborating with street choreographers and performing in music shows.
After moving to Ireland, Josué began teaching and performing at Brazilian events, later joining the Irish Modern Dance Theatre, where he appeared in productions such as Actions and Begin Anywhere. He has also collaborated with the Afro-dance company Umakoko and became a director of Awenwoven, working with Project Arts Centre, Dance Ireland, and Garter Lane Theatre.
A dedicated researcher, he explores the cultural foundations of Hip-Hop and Krump. He has worked with major brands like L’Oréal, Toyota, Adidas, Red Bull, and Samsung. For two years, he has contributed to Go Dance for Change, sharing his practice across universities and community spaces. He is the recipient of the Artist in Collaborative Practice Award (2024/2025).
