IYDF International Dance Residency
25th – 30th June
As part of the Irish Youth Dance Festival Programme (1st & 2nd July 2023) and in collaboration with Dance Ireland and Dance Theatre of Ireland’s Centre for Dance, DYDC is offering a dance residency with an International Guest Choreographer to create a new dance piece to be performed at the IYDF. For the 2023 IYDF we are delighted to welcome Choreographer and Director of the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland (NYDCS), Anna Kenrick.
The intensive week of dance is open to skilled young dancers 15-25yrs looking to develop their technical ability and performance skills in a professional dance setting. The young dancers are also given the opportunity to train and perform alongside DYDC Senior Ensemble.

What is involved?
This dance residency consists of 6 full days of dance including:

Morning dance class
-
Creative choreographic process
-
Development of choreography
The final dance piece created will then be performed in front of an audience at the Irish Youth Dance Festival.
The Dance Residency aims to develop:

Dance skills

Choreographic skills

Performance and Interpretative skills

Collaborative work (with choreographer and fellow dancers)

Performance preparation (stage and backstage protocol, technical rehearsals on stage, etc.)

Networking at a national and international level

Access to training in a state of the art premises
