Simone O'Toole

Simone is a Contemporary Dance Artist and Choreographer. After her training in Fontys Dance Academy, The Netherlands, Simone worked with Dutch/Brazilian choreographer Guilhermo Miotto and on returning to Ireland she has worked with Catherine Young, John Scott, Fibin Teo, PanPan Theatre and Selma Daniel. Simone is an Associate Artist with Irish Modern Dance Theatre since 2022 and has recently participated in an IRIS Award (International Residency Initiative Scheme) with Irish Modern Dance Theatre, Merce Cunningham Trust and Irish Arts Centre in New York.

 

Her choreography has been seen in Dancer from the Dances Festival in 2021 & 2022, with PanPan Theatre in Mespil in the Dark at The Samuel Beckett Theatre in September 2022. Simone choreographed the new theater show from Fibin sa Taibhearc “Waltsáil Abhaile” in Galway.

 

Simone has been choreographing since 2016 while studying Contemporary Urban in The Netherlands. She is a recipient of the Arts Council Bursary Award 2023 for her new work creation ‘Terra Femina’. Simone is currently working with Catherine Young Dance Company on the new 2024 creation 'Ciseach'.
