Liz Roche is co-founder and Artistic Director of Dublin based dance company Liz Roche Company. In 2020 Liz was elected to Aosdána in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the creative arts in Ireland and was recently named by The Irish Times as one of the
seventy women who’ve shaped Irish culture.
Liz Roche Company is supported by The Arts Council, Culture Ireland and Dublin City Council, and has produced and toured over 25 of her works, performing throughout Ireland and internationally at prestigious venues and festivals including the Baryshnikov Arts Centre and Irish Arts Center, New York, Atlas PAC in Washington D.C, South Bank Centre, London, Edinburgh Fringe, Meet in Beijing Festival and Powerhouse Brisbane.
Recent commissions include Yes and Yes for Solas Nua in Washington D.C, Dēmos for Dublin Dance Festival and The Abbey Theatre, Totems for the National Gallery of Ireland, I/Thou for Cork Opera House, and Näher for the Goethe Institute Ireland. Her work for opera and theatre includes choreographies for Irish National Opera, Wexford Festival Opera, National Opera of Korea, Rossini Opera Festival, Opernhaus Zurich, Opera de Nice and Opera Ireland, The Abbey Theatre, The Gate Theatre, The Lyric Theatre Belfast, and Landmark Productions.
