Autumn Dance Residency

As part of DYDC annual activities, Senior members have the opportunity to collaborate with the dance sector and professional choreographers. This initiative affirms our commitment to supporting our senior dancers to expand their professional training and gain access to networking within the dance community.

Supporting the voices and choices of our young members, paramount to DYDC, they participate in the selection of the choreographer they will engage with, shaping the work of the company and influencing its decision making.
​
This exciting initiative empowers the young dancers, enabling them to use and develop their critical analysis and insight in dance and supports them to foster an appreciation for quality of work as an integral part of the process.
What is involved?

This dance residency consists of 6 full days (10am-5.30pm) of dance including:

Morning dance class
-
Creative choreographic process
-
Development of a dance piece

The piece created is performed in front of an audience at the IYDF Winter Gala at Smock Alley Theatre.

The Dance Residency goals are:

Development of Senior members as dance artists

Enabling of choice, decision making

Develop their insight and knowledge in contemporary dance

Exposure to the members of the wider dance community

Networking opportunities with the professional dance community

Dance skills development
